Committee Elections
The LGBTQ+ Society us unusual in that it holds 2 elections per year:
- One at the beginning of the academic year to decide on a new committee for the rest of the year;
- And one at the end of the academic year to ensure there is a Committee for the summer and as an opportunity fort those who are leaving to stand down.
Recently the Students' Union has started making all Societies handover in early April, so we're going to have 3 elections in the academic year 20116/17.
On this page you will be able to find out more about the Positions of Committee and also how the elections of the Society are carried out :-)

There are quite a few rules that must be followed during elections:
Organisation
- Someone not standing for election must act as the invigilator for the Elections.
- The electoral system is simple majority (whoever has the most votes wins)
- Someone can run for as many positions as they choose, however, no one can hold more than one Officer and one Rep position at ant one time
- Elections are held on campus using paper secret ballots.
- There is no set order for electing positions, however, for simplicity the Vice Chair should go last as someone must already hold a position to be able to run for Vice.
-Re Open Nominations (RON) is always an option.
Nominees
- To run for a position, a nominee must send their name, the position and a short paragraph as to why they should be elected to the Society, via Email or a message to the page.
- Nominees can also run at the election.
- Nominees who can't be at the election or don't want to read their short paragraph can have it read by the invigilator.
- Any Chair nominees must have been on Committee for at least one full academic year.
- The Chair is also not allowed to hold any other position other than Chair, be that Rep or Officer.
